Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (property G-XZMLPK747B) to count visits and see which pages are read. It records things like page URL, referrer, approximate location derived from IP, device type and browser language.

We do not use it to identify individuals, and we do not upload any personal identifiers to it. Google's own handling of this data is covered by Google's privacy policy.

Stored in your browser, not on our server

The My Seoul feature and some reading preferences are saved in your browser's local storage. That data stays on your device — it is never sent to us and we cannot read it.

Clearing your browser storage for this site erases it completely.

Third-party content on our pages

The live camera page embeds YouTube. Article pages load a Klook affiliate widget. Both are served by those companies and can set their own cookies once loaded.

The Klook widget is loaded only when you scroll near it, so on pages you never scroll to the bottom of, it is not loaded at all.

Affiliate links pass a tag identifying which page and language the click came from. That tag contains no information about you.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

This site shows ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar identifiers to serve ads, to measure whether an ad was seen or clicked, and to limit how often the same ad is shown to you.

Google may use an advertising cookie to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can switch personalised advertising off at any time in Google My Ad Center, and manage third-party ad cookies at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.

The vendors Google may work with, and the cookies they set, are listed on Google's advertising cookies page.

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, a consent message appears on your first visit. Your answer there decides whether personalised ads and non-essential cookies are used, and you can change it at any time from the privacy settings link that message leaves on the page.

We are not told who you are by any of this. We never receive, and never pass on, your name, email address or payment details — we do not hold them.

What we never do

We do not sell data. We do not build profiles across sites ourselves, and we do not email you — there is no mailing list. Apart from the Google AdSense advertising described above, no other advertising network runs on this site.

Your choices

You can block analytics with any content blocker or your browser's tracking protection; the site works normally without it.

To ask what we hold about you, or to have something removed, contact us at the address below. Because we hold no accounts, in most cases the answer is that we hold nothing tied to you.
