The short answer
- The 2026-27 V-League starts Saturday, October 31, 2026 and the regular season runs to April 2, 2027. Volleyball is Korea's winter indoor sport, picking up just as baseball ends.
- Seoul has two teams, both at Jangchung Arena (Line 3, Dongguk University Station, Exit 5): GS Caltex Seoul KIXX (women) and Woori Card WON (men). Incheon, Suwon, Hwaseong and Pyeongtaek host more.
- Book through the KOVO website or app, expect a Korean phone-verification wall, and keep the game-day ticket office as your fallback.
- Jangchung is not a chicken-and-beer venue. Snacks are allowed only in the 2nd-floor seats, and alcohol is not allowed at all.
Korean baseball wraps up in late October. Right on its heels, the noise moves indoors.
From late October to April, Korea’s big spectator sport is 배구 (baegu), volleyball, and the pro league is the V-리그 (V-League). It is smaller and closer than baseball. The biggest arenas seat a little over 4,000 people, so even the cheap seats feel near the court, and the whole room reacts to every rally.
It is also a league where the women’s games outrate the men’s on TV. More on that below.
This guide covers the 2026-27 schedule, the teams you can reach from Seoul by subway or bus, how booking works for a visitor, and what to know before you walk into Jangchung Arena. If you have been to a baseball game, our KBO baseball game guide is a useful comparison.
When is the 2026-27 V-League season?
The regular season runs from October 31, 2026 to April 2, 2027, with the postseason from April 5 to no later than April 22, 2027. KOVO, the Korea Volleyball Federation, released the schedule on August 18, 2026, and Korean outlets including My Daily, Star News and Nocut News reported the same dates.

Which V-League teams play in or near Seoul?
Two teams call Seoul home, and six more play within a subway or bus ride. GS Caltex Seoul KIXX (women) and Woori Card WON (men) share Jangchung Arena. Seoul City signed home-city agreements with both clubs in 2015, after the arena reopened from its renovation.

Hyundai E&C, KEPCO and IBK played at these arenas in 2025-26. We could not find a 2026-27 venue notice for them, so confirm on the KOVO schedule. For Korean Air, Incheon City also lists a game-day shuttle from Exit 3 of Jakjeon Station on Incheon Line 1, every 30 minutes from two and a half hours before the game.

Background: two moves that make older guides wrong
KB Insurance left Uijeongbu. Uijeongbu Gymnasium closed completely in November 2024 over safety problems, KB spent two seasons at a university hall, and for 2026-27 it signed a one-year deal with Pyeongtaek, Seoul Shinmun reported. OK Savings Bank left Ansan for Busan before the 2025-26 season. If a blog sends you to Ansan or Uijeongbu for a pro game, it is out of date. The rest of the league is outside the capital area: Hyundai Capital in Cheonan, Samsung Fire and Jung Kwan Jang in Daejeon, Korea Expressway in Gimcheon, OK Savings Bank in Busan, and the new SOOP club in Gwangju.
How do you buy V-League tickets as a foreigner?
Start at the ticket menu on the KOVO website (kovo.co.kr) or the KOVO app, pick the club and the game, and expect to need a Korean mobile number for verification. Each club sets its own seat classes and prices, so the price list you see depends on the home team.
The weak spot is identity checks. App Store reviews of the official KOVO app describe being bounced to a web browser or the Naver app to pay, phone verification failing, and in one case a foreign user who could sign up but not buy. That matches what visitors run into on most Korean ticketing sites.
Practical tip: a realistic ticket plan
- Try online first. KOVO's site and app list every club's home games. If you have a Korean phone number, or a Korean friend willing to book, this is the easiest route.
- Pick a regular-season game, ideally on a weeknight. In the first half of 2025-26, women's games drew 2,455 fans on average and men's games 2,197, Nocut News reported from KOVO data. Jangchung seats 4,507.
- Avoid assuming walk-up works for big dates. A Christmas Day 2025 women's game in Suwon sold out, Star News reported. Openers, holidays and the postseason are the risky ones.
- Arrive early if you buy on site. Bring your passport and a card, and check the club's ticket notice (look for 예매 안내) for its box-office rules.
Why is women's volleyball so popular in Korea?
Because more people watch it: in 2025-26 the women’s V-League averaged a 1.36% TV rating, its highest ever, against 0.54% for the men, according to Star News.
A large part of the story is Kim Yeon-koung, for years the face of Korean volleyball. She has retired, and the league is still finding its next draw. In 2025-26 that included Inkushi, billed in the Korean press as Kim’s protégé: her debut for Jung Kwan Jang against GS Caltex drew a 2.06% rating, and Jung Kwan Jang’s average crowd rose by about 580 after she joined, Nocut News reported.
For a traveler, the takeaway is simple: if you only see one game, make it a women’s game. In Seoul, that means GS Caltex at Jangchung.
What is the cheering like at a Korean volleyball game?
Organized and loud, in a room small enough that you can hear individual voices. Each club runs a cheer squad led by a 응원단장 (eung-won dan-jang), the cheer captain, with cheerleaders, and KOVO’s site has a menu for team and player cheer songs if you want to learn a few before you go.
Clubs build the game around that. Woori Card WON’s cheer captain and cheerleader program and post-game photo time were credited with getting more fans in their seats before the first serve, Star News reported in February 2026. The club also renamed restricted-view seats after two of its players, and those boxes went from under 60% sold to sold out in 2024.
Players join in too. During the empty-arena 2020 cup tournament, GS Caltex’s substitutes danced through games in the 4 m by 4 m warm-up zone the players call the 닭장 (dakjang), the chicken coop, YTN reported.
Background: Asian quota players brought new fans
Since the 2023-24 season, clubs can sign Asian quota players, and the first group came from Japan, Taiwan, Mongolia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines. Thai and Indonesian fans started turning up in numbers to cheer their players, and KOVO began showing arena etiquette notices in ten languages, including English, Thai, Indonesian, Mongolian, Japanese and Taiwanese Mandarin, My Daily reported. Check the club rosters on the KOVO site if you want to find a player from home.
What should you know before going to Jangchung Arena?
Get off at Dongguk University Station (Line 3), follow Exit 5 into the underground passage, and take the arena’s elevator up. That route, set out in the Seoul Facilities Corporation’s FAQ, has tactile paving and elevators the whole way.
Jangchung opened on February 1, 1963 as Korea’s first indoor gymnasium, and it reopened after a renovation of about two years and eight months that began in 2012, according to Seoul City. It is a compact, round building, and you notice it the moment the first serve goes up.
Practical tip: Jangchung Arena house rules
- Food: light snacks in the 2nd-floor seats only. No hot soup, no strong-smelling food, no alcohol, and nothing to eat on the 1st-floor court level.
- Inside: convenience store and snack shop on the 1st floor, coffee shop on the 2nd. The whole building is non-smoking.
- Accessibility: 40 wheelchair seats, 2 accessible parking spaces and 2 accessible restrooms on the 1st floor.
- Driving: card-only parking at ₩400 per 5 minutes, or ₩10,000 for 3 hours on event days. Spaces are limited, so take the subway.
Because you can’t bring dinner in, eat before or after. The arena sits in the same neighborhood as Jangchung-dong’s jokbal alley, which our Jangchung jokbal guide covers in detail. For late games, check our late-night transport guide before you leave, and top up your T-money card for the buses to Incheon or Suwon.
A volleyball game is also one of the better answers to a freezing afternoon. If you are building a cold-weather day, pair it with ideas from indoor Seoul on a cold-snap day, and if you are curious how Koreans play sport themselves, see what sports Koreans actually play.
